Phase 2:
The Boogie Mites School Ready Teacher Training EYFS Music Project 2025/26 builds on the Lanyado Fund’s 2021–2024 evaluations and aims to demonstrate a scalable model for improving early development through active music-making. Working with 10 primary schools in areas of high deprivation across England, the project will be delivered by several Boogie Mites trainers and will focus on children with learning delays in nursery and Reception to help close the attainment gap at age five. Using EYFS goals as the framework, the programme emphasises language, early literacy foundations, collaboration and inclusion, alongside a dedicated 2026 parent transition programme to strengthen home–school continuity.
Expected outcomes include improved teacher and parent understanding of how music supports development, increased confidence in using music daily, and measurable gains in children’s attention, listening, vocabulary, pre-phonics, early maths and literacy foundations, social skills, self-regulation and motor skills. A smoother transition into Reception is a key goal.
Schools will receive teacher feedback for evaluation, lifetime access to digital programme resources, training videos for sustained delivery, and parent access to six workshop videos. The delivery model includes onsite practitioner training, three weeks of role-modelled music workshops in pre-school and Year R, and a parent education course. The project cost is £2,500 per school, delivered across selected regions in London and the South East. This is funded by the Lanyado Fund.
