Dingley’s Promise

Dingley’s Promise support children with special educational needs in their early years centres.

The Lanyado Fund Dingley’s Promise Project in Newbury was delivered by Boogie Mites in the Summer term 2025, combining practitioner training, in-setting music sessions, and parent-and-child workshops. Children showed increased confidence, participation, and joy in music, with many demonstrating new or unexpected behaviours during sessions.

Practitioners and parents observed children who often struggled to engage becoming animated, vocal, and involved when Boogie Mites activities were introduced. Some children who were usually quiet or disengaged began to join in, take turns, or even lead parts of the sessions.

These outcomes are valuable for both SEND and mainstream early years settings. The structured, rhythmic, and sensory-rich nature of Boogie Mites music supported anticipation, regulation, and inclusion—highlighting how inclusive music-making can build practitioner confidence, support children with SEND, and empower families.
